In a nutshell: We are a Christian church with many similarities to the Catholic Church. Our Lutheran tradition traces its roots to the Reformation of the 16th century, when Martin Luther, a Catholic priest and theologian, sought to address practices and teachings that he believed were not fully consistent with Scripture. His intention was to reform the Church rather than create a new denomination. However, his efforts led to significant conflict with Church leadership, and he was eventually excommunicated.

The Reformation that followed led to the development of Lutheranism. Over the centuries, meaningful dialogue and cooperation have grown between Lutherans and Catholics. Since the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s, Popes and church leaders have engaged in ongoing ecumenical discussions that have fostered greater understanding and respect between the two similar traditions. Today, the Catholic Church recognizes Lutherans as fellow Christians who share a common faith in Jesus Christ. Lutheran baptisms are recognized by the Catholic Church, weekly communion and many sacramental acts, including marriages involving Lutheran and Catholic Christians, are acknowledged according to established church guidelines.

Visitors will find our liturgy very similar to that of the Catholic Church, but our worship includes rich congregational singing and a strong tradition of hymns. During Holy Communion, communicants receive both the bread and the wine.

Our pastors are permitted to marry, which enables them to relate to and counsel individuals and families from personal experience. We value building a strong sense of community and fellowship within our congregation.

Following most worship services, we gather for a coffee hour where members and visitors can meet, connect, and enjoy friendly conversation. We warmly welcome you to join us and experience the fellowship, worship, and hospitality of our congregation.
